• Butler Intermodal Terminal improves access to Global Marketplace

  Approximately one year ago, four companies came together to solve shared challenges in shipping and receiving. Valor Victoria, Iowa Northern Railway Company (IANR), Watco Companies, and Union Pacific (UNP) recently launched an internationally focused intermodal service, through the newly-developed Butler Intermodal Terminal at Logistics Park, in rural Shell Rock.

• Allerton Brewery to Open in Independence

  Another brick is being laid into the wall needed to build a thriving community, and the Buchanan County Economic Development Commission (BCEDC) is providing mortar to ensure the wall stands strong. The Allerton Brewing Company in Independence is that brick, and they are moving towards an autumn opening.

• $22.5 Million Light Plant and 100% Fiber Network poise New Hampton, IA for Growth

  New Hampton's Municipal Light Plant is investing $22.5 million in the City's electrical and telecommunications infrastructure. The investment will address needed improvements to the city's electrical system and will start up a municipal-owned telecommunications utility. The New Hampton Municipal Utility (NHMU) will provide local service for internet, phone and television.

• Pries Opens New Multi-Million Dollar Anodizing Line Attracting 40 New Jobs

  After a year of construction on a new 50,000 square foot expansion, Pries Enterprises has announced the opening of their new anodizing line. Pries will now be a vertically integrated one stop shop for aluminum extrusions, anodizing and fabrication. The expansion will open several new doors for the company and its customers.
